Objective
Expand my skills in database and web applications development with leading edge technologies in a team environment.
I was brought in to assist the materials management team by reducing their reporting workload and to help them to focus on reducing costs and increasing service. This was my first position where programming was my primary focus though I was not part of the Information Technology group.
- Took frequently used data from the oracle data warehouse and consolidated plant specific information onto a plant file server. This improved query speed and made it much more easily available to other analysts who were not as technically savvy.
- Built numerous tools for the materials and manufacturing groups to assist them with workflow and analysis.
- Spearheaded the drive to remove the drudgery of individuals pulling data from the ERP system and dumping to spreadsheets by targeting key information sources for automated data pulls and web-based reporting.
- Created the company’s first on-line repository of technical documentation. first through and off-site wiki and then within the company website. Presently a wiki is in place where my meticulous documentation of every report, tool, and data source is available. No other programmer at Moen provides any documentation.
- Built a slide show display system with JavaScript libraries so that department managers could more easily convey information to our production line associates.
- Developed a database tool which automatically creates reports and other chores as their data sources dependencies become available.
- 2009 President's Achievement award for our visual factory initiative where I played an integral part developing business warehouse queries and building reports.
- 2008 Team Excellence award for implementation of new safety auditing program where I developed an audit entry and tracking software program.
- 2008 Personal Achievement award for the tools I built for the materials group, the automated reporting, and the creation of the plant's website as a vehicle for delivering reports.
- 2007 Team Excellence and President's achievement awards for Inter-Plant service improvements. I used my programming skills to build tools which helped us locate slow moving inventory and its causes, and scan master data to bring it into alignment with expected parameters. This, in conjunction with the rest of the team, resulted in a 20 point improvement in service and a 2.3 day reduction of inventory.
Atotech develops the techniques required to obtain exquisite and durables finishes for metals which they then sell as a package of expert support, analytics, chemicals and hardware. In 1996, they had just finished their brand new manufacturing and headquarters facility in South Carolina and shortly thereafter acquired a competitor. Business was good until off-shoring forced a lot of our high margin products sales to drop off as US businesses consolidated.
Supply Chain Analyst (3/05 to 10/06)
When my manager returned from war, I was moved into a newly titled role where I continued to forecast demand but also worked with the newly implemented Manugistics DRP system.
- Designed and implemented a system to interface an expert forecasting system ForecastPro with Manugistics so that
all modeling could take place in the new system saving time and reducing forecast error.
Inventory Control Supervisor (5/02 to 3/05)
After the world trade center fell, my manager went to war and I was promoted to supervisor to take up some of
that slack. I also picked up management of contract warehouses and transportation costs.
- Reduced fixed logistics costs by %10
- Optimized safety stock calculations resulting in a $15,000 annual savings.
- Reduced slow moving inventory by 31%
Inventory Analyst (11/00 to 5/02)
As the company began to reel from the off-shoring boom, I was moved into the logistics group with a focus on
reducing costs and improving working capital. I was responsible for positioning inventory and forecasting demand.
- Built a database application to identify and track slow moving inventory.
- Built a database for daily review of sales orders to advise customer service and the sales force of shortages
and forecast blow outs.
- Created and implemented a Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) solution.
Product Safety Analyst (10/96 to 11/00)
I assessed likely environmental and human safety concerns with respect to our chemical products and created
safety data sheets and labeling. Additionally, I had to be on call to assist carriers and emergency personnel
for any transportation incidents.
- Designed and implemented databases to enhance and expedite MSDS generation, part number status tracking,
packaging specifications, and incident reporting.
- Revised labeling system to streamline data entry and reduce difficulties printing on manufacturing floor.
- ISO 9002 compliance auditor.
Environmental & Safety Director (8/95-10/96)
Provide guidance on all chemical regulatory requirements including safety, transportation, waste disposal,
emissions, and storage.
- Created and implemented a new Hazard Communication program including extensive training program.
- Implemented a chemical storage and segregation system and brought storage sites into compliance with Ohio
fire codes.
- Began a waste characterization program.
- Marketed unused and off-spec materials and successfully reduced this inventory by 50%
